Barbara Hart Decker

Painting with Paper

Barbara Decker is an accomplished artist, creating unique works of art using the “collage” technique. Her creations are achieved using torn pieces of paper of varying colors and textures to form beautiful images.

Barb says, “Collage gives me a chance to use the colors and textures of paper to interpret this forever changing scene. I see the farm fields, colorful flower gardens and wild flowers as large patchworks….and incorporate the ‘patchwork’ qualities…while exploring the elements of line, color, form, texture and design to create a unified picture in collage.”

Working in Clay

Barb also casts free form clay creations. Keeping with her love for nature she forms them over over rocks, wood, or even squash and melons. The clay pieces are designed to be both beautiful and useful and are glazed with food safe glazes.

The Artist

After living in Texas for 32 years, Barb moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin, giving her a change of scenery and perspective. She lives in the country and continues to be inspired by the wonders of nature. Barb holds degrees in Biochemistry, Physiology and Art Education, but her life’s work and passion is clearly in sharing her love of art with others. She is especially fond of working with children and is an active supporter of area youth art programs.
